Who we are

Octanove Institute is a distributed AI research lab focused on intelligence augmentation (IA).

Octanove Institute is run by Masato Hagiwara. Masato is an independent NLP/ML Researcher and Engineer at Octanove Institute. He works with world-class institutions and start-ups including AllenAI, ACTNext, Lang-8, and RIKEN AIP. Formerly, he was a Senior Machine Learning Engineer at Duolingo. He speaks Chinese, Japanese, and English, and learning Arabic and Korean.
